European Union
At the European level, the CNP is part of the network of national productivity boards. In September 2016, the Council of the European Union published a recommendation on the creation of national productivity boards. This recommendation was part of the set of measures introduced by the European Commission in October 2015 to implement the Five Presidents’ Report on advancing the development of the EU’s Economic and Monetary Union (EMU).
These boards carry out high-quality economic and statistical analyses and make their results available to the public. They thus provide a valuable contribution to policy debates in their countries and encourage reforms aimed at achieving sustainable economic growth and convergence. National productivity boards may consult relevant stakeholders, although they are required to remain objective and neutral.
The network meets regularly to exchange views and share best practices. In addition, national productivity boards also interact regularly with the Economic Policy Committee (EPC).
